Alexandria to Host Open House on National Airport Noise Mitigation Project

In an effort to address concerns and gather feedback from the community, the City of Alexandria will host an open house this month to discuss the National Airport Noise Mitigation Project. The project aims to reduce noise levels for residents living near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA).

Background of the National Airport Noise Mitigation Project

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has identified Alexandria as a community that is eligible for noise mitigation funding due to the proximity of DCA. The project is a collaborative effort between the FAA, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA), and the City of Alexandria.

Scope of the Project

The project will focus on addressing noise impacts in select areas of Alexandria. The following neighborhoods are included in the study:

Arlandria
Potomac Yard
Del Ray
Eisenhower East

Noise Mitigation Measures

The open house will present various noise mitigation measures that are being considered for implementation in Alexandria. These measures include:

Airport Operations Changes: Modifications to flight patterns, preferential runway use, and aircraft technology upgrades to reduce noise.
